About Ivy Sage

Ivy Sage is a beautiful, 45lb, 2-year-old American Staffordshire Terrier with a big personality and an even bigger heart. I rescued her about a year and a half ago, hoping to give her a better life—and in many ways, we’ve made beautiful progress together. She’s smart, sweet, full of energy, and knows basic commands like “sit,” “lay down,” and “paw.” She loves praise, belly rubs, and learning new things—especially when treats are involved. But Ivy has also come with emotional wounds and behavioral challenges that I wasn’t fully prepared for. She’s reactive toward other dogs, and despite every effort, she hasn’t been able to get along with the dog I’ve had for years. It’s caused stress in our home, and it breaks my heart that I haven’t been able to give her the peace, consistency, and calm she truly needs to heal and thrive. She’s incredibly loving but needs a very specific kind of home: one where she’s the only pet, with someone who has experience working with reactive dogs, who understands her past doesn’t define her future, and who can offer her the kind of attention and structure she’s been missing. This decision has taken a toll on me emotionally. I didn’t rescue Ivy just to give up on her—I’m making this choice because I love her, and because I know she deserves more than I can give right now. She’s not a bad dog—she’s just a misunderstood one who needs the right match to help her continue growing into the amazing companion I know she can be. If you or someone you trust can offer Ivy a safe, stable, and one-dog home where she’ll be loved, supported, and truly seen—please reach out. She’s been through a lot, but she still believes in people. I want her next chapter to be the one where she finally gets to feel peace, safety, and unconditional love. Please help me find Ivy the forever home she’s been waiting for.

This sweet girl is a 4-year-old American Staffordshire Terrier mix who's loyal, affectionate, and full of love. She thrives in a loving environment and forms strong bonds with people. She's crate-trained, spayed, housetrained, and knows basic commands. She gets anxious around other dogs, so a home where she can be the only pet is ideal. She loves people of all sizes, genders, and ages-making her a great companion for families or individuals. She's cuddly, playful at times, and low maintenance overall. I'm rehoming her due to major changes in my career and travel schedule, and she deserves more time and stability than I can provide right now. I'm looking for someone who can give her the safe, loving home she truly deserves.

Her family rescued her from the shelter at about 4 months old. In December of 2023, they needed to leave the country due to their visa ending and it was only supposed to be a few months so I agreed to foster her. They then cut off all after about 5 months. I kept her because I love her, but I already had 7 rescues that are my own and she clearly CANNOT be in a household with other dogs. Too many fights, and I have to protect my fur babies. Although she is dog-aggressive, she is NOT AT ALL human aggressive. She grew up with children and I have a young child. She would give her life for her family. We adore her but I’m in a horrible situation and I am trying to find her a wonderful family where she will be the only dog. I will have to surrender her to the shelter next week if I cannot rehome her. It’s gotten that bad because I already have two alpha females.  None of it is her fault. She didn’t ask to be in a home with other dogs. Since she has never been around cats, I cannot predict how she would behave upon seeing one. Please help give her the family she deserves in a household where she is the only dog and can focus on just loving her humans. She is excellent on car rides and is great on walks. She does not pull and does not show any aggression when passing other dogs.
